Current Tulane students may schedule an appointment for individual counseling by visiting the Center for Educational Resources and Counseling between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday - Friday and filling out some brief paperwork. An appointment is typically given 1 to 4 days later, provided that the student is willing to meet with the first available counselor. During periods of high demand, the wait may be longer.
If the situation appears to be a crisis or emergency, please tell an Educational Resources and Counseling staff member. Educational Resources and Counseling counselors will make every effort to respond quickly to students in crisis with an appointment or a telephone call.
Counseling and support groups are free of charge to Tulane students, and are confidential to the full extent allowed by law.
Because of the short-term nature of our counseling services, individual counseling appointments are limited to 10 per Academic Year, excluding the summer semester when counseling services are available for a minimal fee of twenty dollars.
Most students have their needs met in 1 to 3 sessions.
About 30 to 35% of Tulane undergraduates use Educational Resources and Counseling's counseling services at some time during their four year academic career.
