  • Become aware of the behavior you want to change.
  • Examine the reasons you developed that behavior to begin with.
  • Have compassion for what you’ve done in the past.
  • Find new ways to meet your needs.
  • Get support.
  • Begin today.
  • Make several tries.
  • Be persistent.
